Angel Reese is celebrating a new milestone.
The two-time WNBA all-star has joined the cast of the Netflix series Hunting Wives for its second season, taking on a co-starring role referred to as “Trainer Barbie.”
This breakout hit features Brittany Snow and Malin Akerman and is in production in the U.S. after Netflix acquired the series from Starz before its debut this past summer.
The upcoming eight-episode season will be exclusively available as a Netflix series, according to The Hollywood Reporter. A release date is yet to be announced.
Joining Reese are newly announced cast members John Stamos, Kim Matula, Alex FitzAlan, Dale Dickey, and Cam Gigandet, while returning cast includes Jaime Ray Newman, Dermot Mulroney, Evan Jonigkeit, George Ferrier, Karen Rodriguez, Hunter Emery, and Branton Box.
Reese, known as “Bayou Barbie,” gained national attention after leading the LSU Tigers to the 2023 NCAA women’s basketball championship and currently plays for the Chicago Sky in the WNBA. She was named to the league's All-Rookie Team in 2024.
Fans noted that Reese’s interest in the series likely influenced her casting; she expressed her appreciation for the first season on social media, which played a part in her joining the production.
In August 2025, she tweeted,
“Nglllll The Hunting Wives is a CRAZYYYY but good watch”.
The series creator, Rebecca Cutter, replied,
“I am DEAD on the floor!!! thank you for watching out lil ol show.”This interaction led Reese to retweet and add,
“just let me know if you need me for season 2”along with a winking emoji.
It turns out her wish came true for Season 2, and fans are eager to see what’s next.
