David Beckham has always been a prominent figure in football, and his family life often finds its way into the media spotlight. Recently, his eldest son, Brooklyn Peltz Beckham, stirred controversy with a startling Instagram statement, publicly disowning his parents.
“I do not want to reconcile with my family,” Brooklyn expressed to his 16 million followers. “I’m not being controlled. I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life.”
Awkward question mars another European football press conference
The ongoing family rift has prompted curiosity, particularly about former Barcelona and Real Madrid player Albert Celades, who was Beckham's teammate. Celades is currently managing Pafos in the Champions League.
During a press conference at Stamford Bridge, reporter Gary Cotterill posed a rather bold question to Celades regarding the unfolding Beckham saga. “You played alongside Beckham at Real Madrid. Have you followed his situation and what are your thoughts?”
In a light-hearted manner, Celades sidestepped the inquiry, prompting Pafos’ press officer to intervene, insisting the matter didn't pertain to the club. “You are probably better not answering it,” admitted Cotterill, indicating the awkwardness of the situation.
Cotterill's pursuit for clarity isn't new, as he has a reputation for diving deeply into the narratives surrounding English clubs' Champions League and Europa League matchups.
