Yesterday, Lego officially unveiled its highly anticipated Pokémon sets, featuring the impressive models of Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise. Notably, the Venusaur set is priced at £579.99, and pre-ordering it grants customers a limited Lego Pokémon Kanto Region Badge Collection while stocks last.
However, many fans expressed a desire to simply purchase the Badge Collection separately rather than spend nearly £600 on a set they don't want just to obtain the free gift.
Unsurprisingly, the Lego Pokémon Kanto Region Badge Collection is now popping up on resale platforms like eBay. While Lego has priced the collection at around £25 in the UK, numerous sold listings have fetched over £100. This trend mirrors international sales where prices remain similarly inflated.
According to the terms and conditions, the gift offer was valid only for the first 8,500 pre-orders in the UK and 21,840 in the US. As of now, the online sales pages indicate that the highly sought-after models are no longer available for pre-order, simply labeling them as 'coming soon.'
It is essential to note that even though the Badge Collection is appearing on eBay, sellers won't have the items in hand until they are shipped on February 27th.
The partnership between Lego and Pokémon was initially teased back in March before yesterday's full reveal. In addition to the larger models, the collection also includes a Pikachu and Poké Ball set, along with a smaller Eevee model featuring posable characteristics.
Other Nintendo-themed Lego sets released include The Legend of Zelda's Great Deku Tree, a Lego Game Boy model, and the dynamic Lego Bowser.
