DJ Maphorisa has addressed allegations made by G Mashego, who claimed he was unpaid for his work on the hit song Biri Marung.
The controversy began in September 2025 when G Mashego trended online after alleging he was stranded in Nigeria and accused Maphorisa of withholding his royalties.
He also made personal claims regarding the producer's relationships with male artists, igniting a heated discussion on social media.
In a live session on Tuesday, Maphorisa dismissed these accusations, questioning their validity.
“How do you know I’m not paying people? Where do you find the proof of those [claims] that I don’t pay royalties?” he asked.
He contested G Mashego’s involvement in the creation of Biri Marung, asserting that the song was written by Ego.
“That boy didn’t write anything. That song was written by Ego. Ego was just smart enough to say, ‘Because that boy was trending on TikTok, let me put out a song’,” Maphorisa stated.
Reflecting on his own career journey, he emphasized that his success was due to years of hard work and dedication, not shortcuts.
“I’ve worked hard to get to where I am, and it was painful because I didn’t take the shortcut. I was signed under Kalawa. You’ve never heard me say any bad sh*t about Kalawa,” he shared.
Maphorisa concluded by reaffirming his commitment to the music industry, highlighting that his legacy and work ethic are what define his career.
