Do We Need a New 'Bully' in Hip-Hop? Fans Debate Eminem's Legacy

Hip-hop has always been a vibrant, evolving genre, and now fans are calling for a return to its roots. Recently, blogger Curtis Bashar ignited a spirited debate on X, suggesting that the rap world desperately needs a new "bully" to stir competition among its top artists.

"Rap music needs a bully like Eminem dissing everybody at the highest level so they can rap again and make top-tier music instead of talking to podcasters like they are their therapists," he boldly stated.

Bashar's provocative claim has set the platform ablaze, with supporters and opponents alike weighing in. While many find merit in his assertion, some believe that the music scene already has its share of bullies—though others argue that the current era simply can't handle the raw intensity of rap beefs.

One user captured the sentiment, saying, "Unfortunately, this era can’t handle rap disses or feuds. They’ll just accuse whoever is doing it of 'clout chasing' or 'needing motion,' rather than embracing genuine competition. The true nature has disappeared, and more artists and fans have gotten sensitive. It wouldn’t work now." Meanwhile, another added, "The only one doing [it] is 50 Cent, but he’s just bullying the old heads online."

Who Does Eminem Have Beef With?

Eminem, a titan of the genre, has a well-documented history of ruffling feathers, from Benzino to Mariah Carey and beyond. His conflicts have often mirrored the grit of hip-hop's competitive spirit. One user jokingly asked, "Lol who did Eminem bully? Benzino? If that’s what you want, Kendrick and Game are available but people don’t really want that. Rapping soft now."

Throughout his career, Eminem has faced off with notable figures like Joe Budden, Ja Rule, and even Machine Gun Kelly. The latter sparked a high-profile feud after tweeting about Eminem's daughter, Hailie. Eminem's response in his 2018 track "Not Alike" led MGK to retaliate with “Rap Devil.” Initially, Eminem refrained from responding further, not wanting to boost MGK's profile. However, he ultimately dropped "Killshot," dismantling MGK's career and image in a lyrical assault that showcased his undeniable prowess.
