Fans of the controversial franchise, Battle Royale, will be thrilled to learn that a new Deluxe Edition of the manga is set to launch. Originally starting as a novel, it has transitioned into a beloved film and now returns in an impressive deluxe format.
The first volume of the Battle Royale: Deluxe Edition will hit shelves on January 27, 2024. You can currently secure your preorder at Amazon for the enticing price of $44, down from its standard retail price of $55, offering a 20% savings.
This 604-page hardcover omnibus will bring together the first three volumes of the original manga series that spanned from 2000 to 2005. There’s speculation over whether Yen Press will include a new translation that remains true to the original narrative or if it will stick to the previous, more controversial English editions published by TokyoPop. The prior adaptations contained significant alterations that led to notable plot inconsistencies as the series unfolded.
As the older editions have been out of print for some time, this new Deluxe Edition presents an excellent opportunity for fans to immerse themselves in the manga adaptation of this iconic franchise once more.
Additionally, there have been several sequel series over the years, the latest being Battle Royale: Enforcers, which began serialization in 2022. Set in the same universe and years after the events of the original, this new series centers on Class F at Daitoa Academy, who are once again thrust into chaos as they face off against each other under the ominous influence of an AI-managed government program.
