Veteran actor Glen Gabela has bravely shared his experiences while filming SABC 1's Uzalo, diving into the difficulties he faced with co-stars Leleti Khumalo and Masoja Msiza.
Gabela, known for his role as Pastor Mdletshe, revealed shocking allegations about his exit from the beloved drama series. His journey took a heartbreaking turn, and in 2025, he made an emotional plea to Mzansi for help, receiving an outpouring of support from fans.
Unveiling the Truth Behind Pastor Mdletshe's Departure
In a candid interview with Chris Network, aired in December 2025, Gabela shed light on the reasons behind his abrupt departure. He named Leleti Khumalo, who played his on-screen wife MamFundisi, as someone who allegedly communicated with producers, claiming working with him was challenging. This revelation struck Gabela hard, given that they had never clashed before.
Furthermore, he recounted his initially positive relationship with Masoja Msiza, who portrays the infamous gangster Nkunzi. However, tensions flared when he borrowed Msiza's car to retrieve scripts without prior discussion.
"In the story, Nkunzi and Mdletshe never got along. They were on opposite sides. And if you observed the tension, it was there," he said.
Gabela described Msiza as self-centered, suggesting that their rapport soured dramatically.
The revelations sparked a wave of reactions from Mzansi, with many fans empathizing with his struggles. One user, @audwickzungu, offered heartfelt encouragement:
"Please, Baba, forgive. They will get their price of hating you, and you will get yours for forgiveness, don’t let satan will, and please don’t question God. Pray, and God will do justice."
Others shared their own tales of hardship in the industry, demonstrating a strong community spirit.
@AlettaMokoena- commented:
"I just thought I could share my experience regarding the extras. I once slept at a taxi rank because there was no more transport back home... but I have given that guy to God because I got tired of asking him when he will pay me."
Additionally, @Xoli_daily voiced admiration for Gabela’s resilience:
"Bab'Gabela. A wise and humble man of God. I was very encouraged, more especially by the way you spoke."
