Big news for the bustling town of Hermanus! Hosken Consolidated Investments (HCI) is selling its 65% stake in the popular Whale Coast Village Mall for an impressive R600 million. This transaction marks a significant shift in the retail landscape of the Overberg region, as it includes major tenants like Checkers, Woolworths, and the only multi-purpose cinema in the area.

The Whale Coast Village Mall is known for its vibrant 96 stores and delightful dining options, serving both residents and visitors alike. According to Business Tech, the entrance of new investors indicates a transformative change in local shopping dynamics.

Major Stake Sold: A New Era for Whale Coast Village

Well-known tenants such as Food Lover’s Market and Crazy Plastics call the Whale Coast Village home, while local communities from Fisherhaven to Vermont benefit from its award-winning design and amenities. HCI’s subsidiary, HCI-Whale Coast Village, will transfer its interests to Whale Coast Capital Investments (40%) and Whale Coast Village Mall (25%). Part of the proceeds from this lucrative sale will go towards settling approximately R328 million in existing debts, with the remainder benefiting shareholders, HCI included.

However, before the deal can finalize, it still awaits the green light from competition authorities, sparking eager anticipation among local stakeholders.

This is not a first for HCI in the mall sale arena; they are also in the process of selling the Point Mall in Cape Town for a staggering R940 million, aiming to enhance their cash flow and investment returns.

Excitement Builds for Soshanguve’s Stunning New Mall

In a related development, the transformed Soshanguve Mall is attracting attention with its chic design, spacious setup, and diverse retail offerings. Locals celebrated as they shared an exciting glimpse into the mall via a video on social media, showcasing its multiple floors, broad aisles, and inviting seating areas that enhance the shopping experience. This retail hub is seen as a significant leap forward for Soshanguve's community and economic landscape, proving that style and convenience can coexist.

Shining Moments from Cape Town Malls

In recent days, Cape Town malls have also made headlines. One employee from Hyundai shared a viral TikTok on how vehicles are seamlessly transported back from display areas to the road, while another story highlighted a young woman's unexpected breakthrough into modeling after she was discovered while strolling through a mall.

The retail landscape is ever-changing, and with Whale Coast Village Mall's recent sale, Hermanus prepares for an exciting new chapter!
