In an exciting sneak peek of an upcoming interview, J. Cole opens up about his creative process surrounding the much-anticipated track "Disc 2 Track 2" from his new album The Fall-Off. Timmhotep Aku shared a captivating clip on Instagram that had fans buzzing with anticipation earlier this week.
Cole eloquently likens his songwriting memories to a football player's highlights, recounting the precise moment inspiration struck for this deeply personal track. In it, he shares his life story in reverse, starting with the evocative lines: "I persevered through the worst, my thirst to adhere is a curse / My life, I see it in reverse, I first appeared in a hearse."
He reveals, "It didn’t come as quickly as I just rapped it to you. It’s quietly puzzling it... I might've sat in that spot for 12 hours that day," highlighting the dedication he put into crafting his verses. Only when the perfect beat arrived did he finally record the track in Miami.
Finally, he reflects on the release experience: "Those moments, writing it? That’s the number one experience... good or bad response, no fulfillment comes from that.” His honesty illuminates the struggle behind artistic creation and the pride he takes in his work.
