In a recent episode of his podcast, Joe Budden weighed in on the exciting news that Mero is taking over the morning slot at Hot 97 following the cancellation of Ebro in the Morning. The radio station thrilled fans by announcing Mornings with Mero, which premiered this Tuesday!
Budden praised Mero, calling him a true "New Yorker" who understands the city's vibe. He noted, "He knows the city, speaks to the city, and brings the funny! Let’s see how it all unfolds!" His co-hosts joined in the celebrations, echoing the positive sentiments.
However, Budden couldn’t resist adding his signature humor to the mix, jokingly questioning, "Where’s everybody else?" He expressed surprise that Mero was announced solo, saying, "They didn’t even introduce a crew! He looks lonely on that poster. We just let go of a whole team, and it’s all on him now!"
In response to the changes, Ebro shared his excitement on social media, stating, "Shout to @THEKIDMERO…. This is so great!" His support adds an extra layer of excitement to the new show.
When Can You Catch Mero?
Mero will now host his own show on Hot 97, airing every weekday from 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM. He described the station as the "voice of NYC hip-hop and culture" in a recent press release.
"Hot 97 is historic; it’s been the heartbeat of NYC hip-hop for decades," Mero shared, expressing his commitment to honor that legacy. "It’s not just a job; it’s a responsibility to carry it into this new era of media. Expect laughs, honesty, and a real good time!"
