ICE fatally shot Renee Nicole Good, a mother of three, yesterday morning in Minneapolis, Minnesota, just a few blocks from where former police officer Derek Chauvin murdered George Floyd. The public reaction to Good’s unjust killing mirrored previous protests with thousands taking to the streets of Minneapolis and cities across America. Many have grown accustomed to seeing lives lost due to state-sanctioned violence, yet Good’s death serves as a reminder that this country's police violence transcends gender, social status, and race.

If you find yourself awakened to these issues, welcome to the resistance.

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey did not hold back when addressing the public about Good’s senseless death.

“I do have a message for our community, our city, and I have a message for ICE: get the f–k out of Minneapolis,” he said.

In response, Donald Trump and his supporters have attempted to spin Good’s death as her own fault. He stated via Truth Social:

“The woman screaming was, obviously, a professional agitator, and the woman driving the car was very disorderly, obstructing and resisting, who then violently, willfully, and viciously ran over the ICE Officer, who seems to have shot her in self-defense,”

ICE has characterized Good's attempt to evade their agents as an “act of domestic terrorism,” supported by Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, who alleged that Good was “stalking and impeding” immigration agents leading up to the shooting.

According to CBS News, Congresswoman Robin Kelly of Illinois has announced plans to file articles of impeachment against Noem on behalf of Good and all others affected by ICE.

“[Noem] has turned ICE into a rogue force, violating the Constitution, tearing families apart, and leaving death in her wake,” she stated in part. “From Chicago to Minneapolis, her recklessness cost lives, including Renee Nicole Good. This isn’t just dangerous—it’s impeachable. I’m fighting back.”

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson also expressed his condolences and concerns regarding Good’s tragic passing.

Rest in peace, Renee Nicole Good. America grieves your loss and condemns those who enabled and supported ICE's actions.
