AfroFuture, a prominent cultural experience platform in Africa, announces the release of its latest single, Mngani Wam, part of the collaborative project titled BAL’ING ON THE CONTINENT.
This follows the project's first single, “Funk Sauce (Wagwan)” by acclaimed Rwandan artist Juno Kizigenza, launched in June 2025. The project is facilitated through The Continent.Live in collaboration with Orchard West Africa, establishing a robust network for pan-African distribution and cultural exchange.
The track features Afrofuturistic producer and DJ K-Zaka, the innovative duo Uncool Angels, and talented Amapiano artist Philharmonic. Mngani Wam, which translates to “my friend,” serves as a heartfelt homage to friendship, anchored in genuine experiences and shared life journeys.
Blending warmth and reflective themes, the song delves into loyalty, companionship, and the concept of chosen family, echoing values that resonate across Africa. With roots in Afrohouse and Amapiano, its minimalist production highlights storytelling, emotional depth, and vocal richness.
BAL’ING ON THE CONTINENT draws inspiration from AfroFuture's experiences across Africa during the Basketball Africa League (BAL) Season 5. While engaging with various artists and producers, AfroFuture initiated dialogues centered on collaboration and cultural storytelling.
This project aims to unite diverse musical styles, languages, and viewpoints into a harmonious collection, utilizing music as a bridge to enhance basketball's presence in Africa. Khadijat El-Alawa, Head of Music & Talents, Culture Management Group (AfroFuture), shares, "The project promotes collaboration and unity, reinforcing the core values AfroFuture has showcased over the past nine years."
