In a recent podcast revelation, South African music executive Nota Baloyi threw a surprising claim into the mix: he asserted that he was the mastermind behind American streamer iShowSpeed's trending status during the streamer’s brief 3-day visit to Mzansi.
While hanging out with iShowSpeed, DJ Sbu, Bontle Modiselle, and Robot Boii, Nota and others seemed to have a great time, yet this trio of stars found themselves the subject of lighthearted jabs for what many labeled as fanboying over the internet sensation.
Social media was ablaze with funny clips showing Nota hilariously being pushed aside by iShowSpeed's bodyguards, yet amid all this, he emerged claiming,
“The whole country is going crazy over Speed. I trended before him, so I made him trend. He trended because of me, I am the reason he trended,”
Nota didn’t stop there—he boasted that he could arrange a private jet for Speed, saying,
“I can get him a private jet that flies him everywhere, with black pilots,”
Reactions poured in from the online community as South Africans humorously refuted Nota’s assertions:
@hatiperi_wacho chimed in,
“I made him trend this side too.”
Another user, @BoogieHarrySA, reminisced,
“Does Nota know we weren’t even expecting him. I started knowing iShowSpeed when he visited Asia and remade ‘The Karate Kid’ scene with the original Karate Kid bully.”
While some commenters were baffled, such as @Billy_PMS, who remarked,
“It’s always about me lol imagine saying you made someone who has over 50 million followers trend. Madness really.”

Popi Sibiya's Show versus iShowSpeed: A New Debate
The conversation didn’t stop with Nota. As discussions about iShowSpeed’s South African adventure continued, one bold social media user attempted to stir the pot by suggesting that Popi Sibiya's influence at home and abroad is on par with iShowSpeed's, if not surpassing it.
@Lord_Ori_ went so far as to declare,
“The Popi Show is better and educational than IShowSpeed, but y’all are not ready for this conversation.”
