South Africa's talented DJ and music producer, Prince Kaybee, is stirring up controversy once again, this time with a fierce slam on Artificial Intelligence (AI). The outspoken star took to social media to share his candid thoughts on the technology, igniting a heated debate among netizens.

On January 7, 2026, Prince Kaybee expressed his frustration in a tweet, proclaiming,

"I can’t wait for the downfall of AI, people who are musically illiterate are making music and it makes me mad."

His words sparked a torrent of reactions from fans and critics alike.

In a follow-up post on January 6, he articulated his concerns further:

"I’m convinced AI is gonna push us back to legacy media. I mean, the way it's so accurate when imitating things, you might wanna verify everything you see on the internet by seeking a legitimate source. I mean, the shift is already happening unless you get news from a trusted political podcast where they are interviewing the actual person."

As expected, the online community was quick to respond. Users flooded the comments section with a variety of opinions:

One user, @iamziyar, remarked:

"Music literacy has changed, and you are jealous. Just evolve and embrace the change instead of wishing for AI to go away because it's not going anywhere..."

Another commenter, @tshidishete, shared their enthusiasm for AI's role in music:

"And I’m one of those people who’s been enjoying seeing my songs and songwriting come to life through AI. Wanna listen to some of my songs one day?"

Yet another response from @hlubi_kabelo pointed out:

"AI is showing you that musicians are mostly valuable only in Performance Entertainment... Welcome to what they call Disruption."

Clearly, the debate rages on, with @BigDlamz asserting that

"AI is democratising music creation."

Prince Kaybee's Ongoing Feuds

In related entertainment news, it has also been reported that Prince Kaybee recently took an unprovoked jab at fellow rapper Cassper Nyovest while addressing a post comparing Nyovest to the late AKA. The long-standing rivalry between the two artists has led to much speculation, even flirting with the idea of a boxing match.

The music scene is ever-evolving, and as AI technologies continue to emerge, the question remains—how will artists like Prince Kaybee adapt to these changes?

Stay tuned for more updates!
