Tragedy struck the hip-hop community when news broke on January 13 that John Forté had passed away at his Massachusetts home at just 50 years old. A neighbor found him unresponsive in his kitchen, leading to his untimely death which has left fans and friends heartbroken.
Forté, a creative force in the music industry, is survived by his wife, renowned photographer Lara Fuller, and their two children. His family has yet to release an official statement about this devastating loss.
In remembrance, his friends and collaborators, including the legendary Wyclef Jean and Pras, have taken to social media to pay tribute. Pras shared heartfelt sentiments, stating, “John was more than just a collaborator — he was family. We came up together in an era when hip-hop was about pushing boundaries, telling real stories, and creating something that mattered. His talent as a writer, producer and artist was undeniable.”

In an emotional tribute, Pras expressed, “Anyone who heard his work knew they were in the presence of someone special. I’m glad I got to share the stage with him one last time. The hip-hop community has lost a real one. I’ve lost a brother. Rest in power, John. Your music and your spirit live on.”
Wyclef Jean also commemorated their bond by sharing a touching video of their performance on Instagram, captioning it, “This one hurts. My brother @john_forte has joined the Angels legends. Never die, look at the smile. R.I.P my Refugee brother.”
As the world mourns Forté's passing, his cause of death remains undisclosed. It is reported that he had been managing health issues from seizure medication after a significant scare last year. Authorities have indicated that no foul play is suspected.
