Former House of Zwide actress Shelati Sekhabi has finally addressed false pregnancy rumours that have been circulating about her online, describing the experience as invasive, unsettling and emotionally exhausting.
The actress took to her Instagram Stories after the claims gained enough traction that strangers began approaching her about them in public.
While she initially chose to ignore the gossip, she said the growing belief in the fabricated story left her with little choice but to speak up.
“I didn’t want to address this and make it a thing because there’s no truth to it, but so many people believe it. After having several strangers come up to me regarding this, it gets to a point,” she wrote.
Sekhabi did not mince her words as she expressed frustration over how easily misinformation can be created and shared on social media. She described the situation as deeply violating, questioning the mindset of those who deliberately spread false narratives about people they do not know.
“It’s just an extremely violating feeling knowing that somebody woke up and decided to create an image and a post about someone they don’t know, knowing it’s fake,” she said.
“Surely such a person is not okay upstairs.”
Clearly shaken by how far the rumours had travelled beyond the internet, the actress urged her followers to play an active role in stopping the spread of the false claims.
She asked supporters to report the posts responsible for the allegations and thanked those who had already shown her support.
