Prime Video has released the first look at Sophie Turner as Lara Croft in the upcoming live-action adaptation of Tomb Raider. Currently in production, the series showcases Turner in a modern take on Croft's iconic adventure outfit, featuring rugged shorts, red sunglasses, a turquoise top, and pistols—essential gear for taxing archaeological explorations.
Confirmed to star as Lara Croft in late 2024, Turner will be joined by an impressive ensemble cast, including Sigourney Weaver, Jason Isaacs, Martin Bobb-Semple, Bill Paterson, Paterson Joseph, Jack Bannon, John Heffernan, Sasha Luss, Juliette Motamed, Celia Imrie, and August Wittgenstein. This week also brought news that Ryan Hurst, known from Sons of Anarchy, will portray Kratos in Prime Video's live-action adaptation of God of War.
To prepare for her challenging role, Turner disclosed that she has been training intensely—up to eight hours a day, five days a week—since February 2025. She has immersed herself in the Tomb Raider universe by playing the classic games and reading the comics, deliberately avoiding Angelina Jolie's portrayals to establish her own interpretation of the character.
In the realm of video games, fans have exciting news as two new entries in the Tomb Raider franchise are on the horizon. The remake of the original 1996 game titled Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis will be released later this year, and in 2027, players will follow Lara Croft on a brand-new journey in Tomb Raider: Catalyst. Alix Wilton Regan will take the reins as Croft, succeeding Camilla Luddington.
