The veteran lyricist used the platform to unpack the long road behind the creative process of ANOMY, an album that took half a decade to complete and even longer to imagine. “And by the way bro, this album took 5 years bro. Cuz I’m chasing features,” he said. Speaking openly with L-Tido, Stogie T dived in and shared that the extended timeline was not accidental. He shared, “Every single hook you hear there, bro I had to wait you know.” he continued to add, “We don’t care about that, we just care about results. So, you know we were patient.” Each collaboration came through deliberate pursuit, careful waiting and respect for alignment.
The album, which spans twelve tracks, brings together a wide range of artists including Thandiwe Mazwai, FLVME, Maglera Doe Boy, A-Reece, Ricky Tyler, Maggz, and Nasty C. Stogie T revealed that working with Thandiswa Mazwai had been a long-standing goal, one that took thirteen years to realise. “Thandiswa Mazwai I’ve been chasing for thirteen years, I mean ask her.” When the collaboration finally materialised, it arrived with purpose. Thandiswa Mazwai and Maglera Doe Boy meet Stogie T on the record in a way that reflects shared history, cultural depth and emotional clarity, giving the song a central place within the album’s narrative.
Throughout the discussion, Stogie T spoke about the waiting that defined much of the process. Hooks, verses and ideas often required patience as collaborators balanced their own schedules and creative paths. Instead of seeing this as a setback, the rapper positioned it as a necessary part of protecting the album’s identity. The result is a body of work that feels cohesive without forcing urgency. “On our terms bro, we’ve just been in our lane by rapping, making the kind of music that we want that reflect where we come from, that reflects our reality. And for the people to resonate with that is crazy, it encourages us.”
