Sean “Diddy” Combs made a bid for a presidential pardon, but it seems President Donald Trump isn’t interested in granting his wish.
During a recent interview with The New York Times, Trump confirmed that the music mogul reached out via a letter asking for clemency. However, the president made it abundantly clear that he is not considering Diddy’s request, offering a succinct response that left no room for interpretation.
Trump, who was discussing potential pardons, included Combs’ name among several others but quickly dismissed it. He also turned down pleas for pardons from other notable figures, like former New Jersey senator Robert Menendez, disgraced crypto founder Sam Bankman-Fried, and Venezuela’s Nicolás Maduro, who faces serious drug trafficking charges.
Trump Is Not Considering Granting A Pardon
When queried about Derek Chauvin, the former Minneapolis police officer convicted of the killing of George Floyd, Trump noted he had not received a pardon request regarding him either, maintaining his stance on keeping certain figures out of the pardon spotlight.
While specifics of Diddy’s letter remain under wraps, Trump acknowledged their complicated history, which was marred by Combs’ previous public criticisms of Trump following his political ascent—a factor that may not have worked in Diddy’s favor.
Diddy’s legal challenges have captured significant public attention, elevating the potential for a pardon to a hot topic on social media. Nevertheless, Trump’s comments suggest the chance of such a pardon is slim for the foreseeable future.
As of now, neither Combs nor his representatives have publicly reacted to Trump’s declaration. It appears that the pursuit for a presidential pardon from the “Bad Boy” is a no-go.
