Former President Donald Trump has jumped into the spotlight, backing rapper Nicki Minaj in her explosive feud with CNN's Don Lemon. The drama ignited over Lemon's controversial coverage of an anti-ICE protest that took place at Cities Church in Minneapolis last weekend.
Using his Truth Social platform, Trump shared a post from X (previously Twitter), which suggested Lemon should face jail time for his actions. This echoes earlier sentiments expressed by Harmeet Dhillon, the Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights, hinting at legal repercussions for the CNN host.
In the post that stirred the pot, a woman likened the disruption of medical services at an abortion clinic to the chaotic protest during church services. She passionately stated: "A small group of elderly ladies were protesting at an abortion clinic and were given 40 years in prison for violating the FACE Act. I would like to see the same kind of sentence for Don Lemon and the people that broke into that church and did that during services."
While Trump didn’t mention Minaj directly, she took to her own social media expressing her disdain for Lemon. In a fiery post, she declared, "DON ‘C*CK SUCKIN’ LEMON IS DISGUSTING. HOW DARE YOU? I WANT THAT THUG IN JAIL!!!!! HE WOULD NEVER DO THAT TO ANY OTHER RELIGION. LOCK HIM UP!!!!!"
Don Lemon's Response To Nicki Minaj
In response to Minaj’s strong words, Don Lemon didn’t hold back, labeling the rapper a "bigot" in an interview with TMZ on Monday. "I think Nicki Minaj has made it very clear how she feels about African Americans in this country," he remarked, adding, "I don't think she's one of them. Under Trump's rule, she should be deported. I don't think, reportedly, she is a legal citizen here. She is undocumented. So, she has shown her disdain for African Americans. Why are you supporting her?"
He went further, questioning, "Why are you buying her record? I have lots of friends who love Nicki Minaj. Why are you supporting this homophobic, bigoted, ignorant woman? You should not be supporting her." Lemon asserted that Minaj was clearly out of her depth in political discussions and not well-equipped to engage in such matters.
Interestingly, Minaj has expressed her admiration for Trump at various events and has even made appearances supporting his agenda, notably at Turning Point USA's annual event, AmericaFest.
