IFA Hotels & Resorts has announced an extraordinary R20 billion initiative, Zimbali Vision 2030, poised to transform KwaZulu-Natal’s North Coast into a luxurious haven for living and leisure.

This groundbreaking project will introduce a state-of-the-art marina and a new country estate with a focus on sustainability and opulence, promising to revitalize the region’s attractiveness to both investors and future residents.

According to Daily Investor, the ambitious plan revolves around two key expansions to the Zimbali brand: a world-class marina alongside a stunning country estate.

This development signifies a remarkable growth trajectory for Zimbali, enhancing its appeal to local and international markets. The internationally acclaimed developer aims to revolutionize coastal living by blending luxurious lifestyle offerings with strong environmental stewardship and genuine community benefits.

Core Projects Driving the Vision

Central to Zimbali Vision 2030 are the Zimbali Marina and the Zimbali Country Estate, strategically positioned across the N2 highway from Zimbali Lakes. These endeavors promise to create an integrated lifestyle ecosystem merging residential living, recreational opportunities, tourism, hospitality, and commercial spaces.

IFA Hotels & Resorts South Africa CEO Werner Burger remarked on the initiative, emphasizing its foundation in global standards paired with local aspirations:

“We are introducing international design, infrastructure, and lifestyle standards to KwaZulu-Natal, many of which will be firsts for the province, and in some cases, the continent,” Burger said.

Creating a Premier Waterfront Destination

The Zimbali Marina is set to emerge as a lively waterfront destination, enhancing tourism, hospitality, fishing, and commercial activities. An integral part of the plan includes a proposed breakwater designed to convert a currently unsafe section of the coastline into a secure, family-friendly beach ideal for swimming and recreation. This innovative intervention aims not only to improve safety but also to enrich the area's recreational offerings and bolster the ecological integrity of the shoreline.

A Secure Countryside Living Experience

Complementing the marina, the Zimbali Country Estate is anticipated to debut in early 2026, providing approximately 1,000 residential opportunities. These will range from expansive one-hectare Gentleman’s Estates and farm-style plots to more affordable residential sites priced under R1 million. The development is conceived as an agriculture-integrated precinct, harmonizing secure, modern living with the charm of the countryside, catering to a diverse clientele from luxury buyers to first-time homeowners.

A Strong Commitment to Environmental Sustainability

Zimbali Vision 2030 also addresses significant environmental challenges impacting nearby rivers and the estuary. The initiative includes plans to purify polluted waters, restore estuary health, and safeguard both flora and fauna. Importantly, a portion of future property sale proceeds will be allocated to support long-term environmental and community initiatives.

Zimbali’s long-term success is closely linked to the well-being of the communities and environment around it. We want the project to deliver real and lasting benefits for residents, visitors, and local communities,
