Bradley Carnell Seeks to Appoint Abraham Mongoya as Assistant Coach
Carnell, currently managing the Philadelphia Union in Major League Soccer, is looking to strengthen his coaching staff by bringing in Abraham Mongoya, the head coach of Upington City, as his assistant.
Having taken charge of Philadelphia in January, Carnell has shown a keen interest in nurturing South African talent. The 48-year-old previously coached St. Louis, where he successfully signed Bafana Bafana international Njabulo Blom from Kaizer Chiefs, and presently includes Olwethu Makhanya in his squad.
Discussions between Philadelphia and Upington City regarding Mongoya are set to commence on Tuesday. If the negotiations are fruitful, Mongoya could join the Union in time for their upcoming match against New York City at Subaru Park on Sunday.
Currently, the Philadelphia Union leads the Eastern Conference with 63 points from 32 matches, holding a four-point advantage over Cincinnati.
