Two new Pokémon have made their debut in Pokémon Go with the launch of the Pinch Perfect event. Players can now add the rock-type crab Pokémon, Klawf, to their collection, while also having their first opportunity to catch shiny Dhelmise.
While both Pokémon will be accessible beyond the event, this is the best time to capture them. Here are some tips on securing Klawf and shiny Dhelmise before the event wraps up.
How To Get Klawf
Despite being a highlight of the Pinch Perfect event, you won't be able to find Klawf in the wild or as a Raid boss. To encounter Klawf, complete Field and Timed Research tasks instead.
Throughout the event, players can access special Field Research tasks until January 11 by spinning the Photo Discs at PokéStops. Completing the “Win a Raid” task will yield either a Klawf or a Dhelmise.
Additionally, three free Timed Research questlines will be available during the event. Completing all tasks in each questline grants an encounter with Klawf plus additional XP and Stardust. Alternatively, you can also purchase a Timed Research Ticket from the in-game shop for more tasks and chances to catch Klawf.
Pinch Perfect Timed Research
The following Timed Research questlines are available during the Pinch Perfect event:
Dwebble Timed Research (January 6-8)
- Catch 5 Pokémon - Dwebble encounter
- Catch 10 Pokémon - Dwebble encounter
- Catch 15 Pokémon - Dwebble encounter
- Catch 20 Pokémon - Dwebble encounter
- Catch 25 Pokémon - Dwebble encounter
Reward: 950 XP, 950 Stardust, Klawf encounter
Can Klawf Be Shiny?
Currently, Klawf is shiny locked, meaning players can't encounter shiny versions at this time. While no announcement has been made regarding when shiny Klawf will be available, it is likely to be introduced during future events.
How To Get Shiny Dhelmise
Unlike Klawf, shiny Dhelmise is now available! Players can encounter a shiny variant, which features red seaweed instead of green, each time they meet Dhelmise.
Complete specific Field Research tasks during the event for a chance to catch shiny Dhelmise. Additionally, Dhelmise will also appear in Gyms as a three-star Raid boss, making it essential to participate in Dhelmise Raids for a better chance at the shiny variant.
The Pinch Perfect event runs from January 6-11, with other exciting events such as Grookey Community Day and a Precious Pals celebration slated for later this month. Stay tuned for more updates on upcoming Pokémon Go events!
