Weekly Challenge allows Pokémon Go players to unite in tackling a particular challenge each week in exchange for rewards.
The Weekly Challenge debuted in October 2025 but faced issues, preventing some players from accessing Pokémon Go due to a glitch. After being temporarily disabled, it returned in November 2025 with a phased rollout starting in New Zealand.
Let’s explore how the Weekly Challenge operates in Pokémon Go and what rewards you can earn.
Update November 2025: The Weekly Challenge is available worldwide once more following a phased rollout.
How Weekly Challenge Works
Every week, up to four players collaborate to complete an overall challenge, which varies weekly — ranging from catching Pokémon to spinning PokéStops.
Weekly Challenges begin and end at the following times based on your location:
UK: Every Monday at 1am (BST/GMT)
Europe: Every Monday at 2am (CEST/CET)
East Coast US: Every Sunday at 8pm (EDT/EST)
West Coast US: Every Sunday at 5pm (PDT/PST)
Remember, you can only participate in one Weekly Challenge per week.
Creating a Weekly Challenge Group
To form a group, go to the 'Social' tab in your Trainer Profile and select 'Choose Group' under the current Weekly Challenge. You can choose players to invite; just remember the group can have up to ten members.
After selecting your group, click 'Create Group' to send out invites. You can also track your group's progress via the 'Social' tab.
Joining a Weekly Challenge Group
If invited to join a challenge group, you'll receive a notification and have 24 hours to respond. Make sure to accept the invite before it expires.
Once part of a group, your aim is to complete the challenge together!
Currently, the High Zaptitude event is live, and you can catch Wattrel! Don't miss out on the January event and raid schedules. Plus, Remote Trading has been introduced! You can now obtain a shiny Keldeo through the Masterwork Research: Pony Tales quest, along with the new Precious Paths Special Research quest.
Weekly Challenge Rewards
Successfully completing a Weekly Challenge before the deadline grants you the following rewards:
- 20,000 XP
- 6,000 Stardust
- Seven extra Friendship Level points
This is a great way to earn extra XP while doing tasks you already enjoy in Pokémon Go, and the additional Friendship Level points can help you level up with other players in your group.
Good luck tackling this week’s challenges!
