CAPE TOWN, WESTERN CAPE - In a shocking turn of events, six teenagers have been arrested for a stoning incident that took place on the N2 freeway, right across from DSV. The young suspects, all just 14 years old, found themselves on the wrong side of the law after their reckless actions were captured on CCTV.

Unraveling the Incident

The dramatic confrontation occurred on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, as the teenagers hurled stones at a vehicle making its way to Cape Town International Airport. The car was transporting Welsh nationals visiting friends in Stellenbosch when it came under fire from the young assailants.

Thanks to meticulous police work, specifically the analysis of the eerie CCTV footage, officers identified the group and traced them to the Crossroads residential area. With the same clothing they wore during the incident still intact, the Nyanga SAPS swiftly apprehended all six boys on Thursday, January 8, 2026. They are now expected to face the music in court after formal charges are leveled against them.

Reactions from the Public

The incident has ignited conversations on social media, with users voicing their outrage and opinions regarding the teenagers’ fate. Mark Ritchie commented:

"It's simple to carry and to protect your assets from the criminals if SAPS are well-equipped."

Kaywin Bside Boza took a stern stance, stating:

"This is a culpable homicide and attempted murder case."

Others chimed in with similar sentiments, calling for no bail and stricter consequences for the boys:

"No bail, keep them until they are of the age to be brought before the court and be locked up. People's lives don't matter to them, criminals." - Brenda Maasdorp

Pamela Broadley shared a chilling reminder of the potential consequences of such actions, reflecting on a past incident where a South African teacher suffered grievous injuries from a similar stoning.

"Someone was almost killed there years ago after seeing their family off at the airport. Luckily, he survived, but his life was changed forever."

A Grim Reminder

Briefly News also highlighted a recent tragic event in Gauteng, where a motorist lost their life after a brick was thrown from an overpass, emphasizing the seriousness of these reckless actions and the potential for devastating outcomes.
