Kaizer Chiefs Defender Inacio Miguel Aims for Victory Against Orbit College
Kaizer Chiefs' defender Inacio Miguel is determined to secure a win when the team faces Orbit College at FNB Stadium this Tuesday evening, as they continue their quest for the Betway Premiership title.
Fresh off a hard-fought victory against Durban City, the Amakhosi are looking to maintain their momentum against Orbit College.
“Winning the league is our main objective, and we are working hard to achieve that,” stated Miguel. He emphasized the importance of the league, alongside the CAF Confederation Cup, as a primary target for the club.
“We are coming from a tough match against Durban City, and we have another opportunity to climb higher on the table against Orbit College,” he added.
The Phefeni Glamour Boys currently sit fourth in the league standings with 19 points from 10 games, and they aim to reduce the gap to the top teams.
Although Miguel will miss the upcoming match against the Mswenko Boys due to suspension, he assured fans that the team is committed to achieving their goals and will perform their best against Orbit College.
“We’re working hard for that, and we’ll deliver when we face Orbit,” he commented.
It has been several seasons since Chiefs last claimed the league title in the 2014/15 season under coach Stuart Baxter, and they are eager to replicate that success.
In the 2019/20 season, the team experienced heartbreak, losing the title in the final match after a disappointing 1-1 draw against Baroka.
Meanwhile, the team is also preparing for the Confederation Cup group stage, having been drawn in Group D alongside renowned Egyptian clubs Al Masry and Zamalek, as well as Zambian team Zesco United.
Miguel acknowledged the challenge ahead, stating they are anticipating tough matches but are ready to put in the hard work for their nation.
“There are no easy games right now as we face some of the best teams in Africa,” he expressed. “We’re prepared to give our best for the country.”
The 2025 Nedbank Cup champions will kick off their Confederation Cup campaign with a match against Al Masry in Egypt on November 23, followed by a home game against Zamalek on November 30. With aspirations for both the PSL title and success in the Confederation Cup, Amakhosi are poised to make an impactful statement in their upcoming fixtures.
