Rumors have been swirling about a potential remake of Assassin's Creed: Black Flag for quite some time. Following the turbulent development of Skull & Bones, the idea of utilizing current-gen assets for a remake seems plausible, yet official confirmation remains elusive. Recently, excitement ignited among Assassin's Creed enthusiasts thanks to a new event in Raid: Shadow Legends.
The free-to-play RPG has seen considerable success on mobile since its release in 2018. While it might not be on everyone's radar, the community surrounding this game is vast and active. Starting tomorrow, January 8th, the game will introduce characters from the Assassin's Creed series.
A teaser has emerged revealing pirate-turned-assassin Edward Kenway entering the fantasy realm. Although the full design hasn’t been released, it seems to be inspired by the original CGI model from 2013, sparking further speculation.
This leads to questions about the intentions behind the teaser. The decision to end on Edward without revealing his complete design, coupled with ongoing discussions about Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced being imminent, suggests that Ubisoft may have a surprise announcement before the end of Q1 2026.
With January lacking major releases and February and March heavily packed, it's possible that Ubisoft could announce the Black Flag remake unexpectedly. Following the success of last year's Oblivion remaster, which launched without prior marketing, a similar strategy for Black Flag Resynced could be in the works. For now, we’ll just have to wait and see.
