Dansin Delivers Incredible Volley; Pirates Star Reflects on Breakthrough Goal

Orlando Pirates starlet Cemran Dansin reflects on his stunning volley against Mamelodi Sundowns.

While addressing the media at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Friday, ahead of the Carling Cup match against the Carling All Stars, Dansin's gleaming expression revealed the significance of his remarkable goal.

In a pivotal league encounter at Loftus Versfeld, with the Buccaneers trailing, the young midfielder fired a brilliant equalizer, releasing a powerful volley from the edge of the box that left Sundowns goalkeeper Ronwen Williams stunned.

This extraordinary goal was recognized earlier this week as the best scored by the Soweto giants, subsequently winning the Betway Premiership Goal of the Month for November.

This goal marked Dansin’s inaugural senior professional goal, celebrated as the standout strike of the month by both his club and the league.

“It happened so quickly,” Dansin noted when reflecting on the moments leading to his goal.

“But as I hit it, I could see it was going in, and I just had to celebrate.”

Although not one for many words, Dansin’s bright smile whenever the goal is brought up reveals the immense pride it instills in him.

At just 20 years of age, he has rapidly ascended from youth football to the senior ranks after joining the Buccaneers in the 2023/24 season. His impressive performances in the DStv Diski Challenge granted him a promotion to the first team during the closing stages of the 2024/25 campaign, making his debut in a 3–0 league victory over Lamontville Golden Arrows.

Since then, he has notched up 10 additional appearances across various competitions, including making his mark in the CAF Champions League with an assist.

Dansin acknowledges that he never anticipated such a swift breakthrough.

Recently, he also played a vital role in helping the Pirates secure their second trophy of the season—the Carling Knockout Cup—by overcoming Marumo Gallants at Peter Mokaba Stadium.

He admits that the entire experience feels surreal.

“It is a great year for me,” he expressed. “Achieving so much in such a short span… I don’t know what to say. It is a very special year.”
