Discover Hytale’s Multiplayer: Play With Friends Effortlessly!

Hytale, the latest sandbox adventure, is now available in early access after years of development. Created by a team of former Minecraft modders, this game merges classic Minecraft elements with unique RPG features and mods, offering an extensive world to explore. Fortunately, you don’t have to embark on this journey alone.

The game supports full multiplayer functionality, presenting you with various ways to team up with friends. Below are the steps to add friends, invite them to join your world, and understand how Hytale worlds operate.

Adding and Inviting Friends in Hytale

Hytale's approach to gameplay differs from typical sandbox games, lacking a dedicated friends list as of now. This means that adding friends and inviting them to your server isn't accomplished through a specific menu.

Instead, Hytale provides the feature of server codes, allowing you to share a code with anyone. This code facilitates immediate access to your server; however, be cautious as server codes include your IP address. Ensure you only share these with trusted friends.

To share a server code, follow these steps:

  • Start a world in Hytale and access the main menu, then select the 'Online Play' tab
  • Enable the 'Allow other players to join' option
  • Save your settings, and a code will appear on your screen
  • Copy this code, then send it to your friend or store it for your own use

If you'd like to join a friend's world using a server code, follow these instructions:

  • Open the main menu and go to the 'Servers' tab
  • Select 'Join via code' and enter the code you received
  • Click 'Connect' to enter your friend's server

Keep in mind that once a server code is shared, it will only be necessary again if someone is kicked out of the world. In that case, the code must be re-entered.

A key aspect of multiplayer in Hytale is that when the host logs off, the world generally becomes inaccessible to others. Therefore, playing in a friend's world usually requires them to be online.

The sole exception to this rule pertains to third-party or personal servers. While creating and operating servers entails navigating through a more intricate process, they often offer better performance and higher player limits compared to regular worlds. So, if you're keen on delving into the server aspect of Hytale, there are certainly advantages to consider.
