This week, comedian Druski released a provocative skit portraying a money-hungry mega church pastor, suspended mid-air and pleading for donations. Titled "Mega Church Pastors LOVE Money," it quickly took Twitter by storm, igniting a fierce debate.
While a segment of viewers erupted in laughter, others were less amused. Critics accused Druski of disrespecting faith, arguing that making jokes about God crosses a line. One noted, "You don’t joke about God; it shows your disrespect," while another debated the fine line between questioning authority and belittling something sacred.
Conversely, Druski's fans rallied to his side, asserting that the skit targeted opportunistic preachers rather than genuine faith. As one supporter put it, "Druski wasn't attacking Christianity, he was calling out those who manipulate their congregations for profit." Another user boldly claimed, "Druski didn’t tell a single lie in that skit."
As the backlash simmers, Druski has yet to publicly comment on the unfolding controversy.
Druski's Controversial History
This isn’t Druski’s first time stirring the pot. Last year, he drew criticism for another skit involving sensitive subject matter, where he portrayed a character encouraging women to drink excessively.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, he reflected on that backlash saying, “I think I just played the character too well.” He eventually removed the skit, stating, “I didn’t want to continue to trigger people. It’s always coming from a good place.” He affirmed his commitment to create content that resonates with his comedic style: “You have to remember this is the same stuff that I’ve been doing. This is my comedic voice.”
