According to multiple reports, MachineGames is currently developing a third installment in the Wolfenstein series, following 2014's Wolfenstein: The New Order and 2017's Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus. Sources such as Windows Central and Kotaku have confirmed the game's development, although specific details remain scarce.
The upcoming title will be the first new entry in the franchise since 2019's Wolfenstein: Youngblood and the VR game Wolfenstein: Cyberpilot.
In a statement made in September 2025, MachineGames' creative director, Axel Torvenius, expressed his enthusiasm to continue the saga of William "B.J." Blazkowicz: "We have always seen this as a [Wolfenstein] trilogy. So that journey for B.J., even during those first few weeks at id, when we mapped out New Order, we still had the plan for... what will happen in the third one. So I hope that we're not done with Wolfenstein yet. We have a story to tell."
If the rumors hold true, we might see an announcement for the new title during this month's Xbox Developer Direct or the anticipated summer showcase event.
In addition to the new game, a live-action Wolfenstein TV series is in development by Prime Video. However, detailed information regarding the series is yet to be revealed.
The Wolfenstein games are set in an alternate universe where Germany triumphed in World War II after harnessing advanced technology. The franchise, which dates back to 1981, includes the iconic Wolfenstein 3D released in 1992, credited with revolutionizing the first-person shooter genre.
