Peter Mokaba Stadium and Moses Mabhida Stadium have emerged as the frontrunners to host this season’s Carling Knockout final in December.
The Premier Soccer League (PSL) is expected to confirm the venue after Golden Arrows face Marumo Gallants in the second semi-final at King Zwelithini Stadium on Sunday.
The winner of that match will meet Orlando Pirates, who booked their place in the final after defeating Richards Bay at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday.
The Carling Knockout final is scheduled for 6 December, and the PSL is considering either Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban or Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane as the host venue.
The last time Peter Mokaba Stadium hosted a League Cup final was during the 2016/17 season, when Cape Town City — coached by Eric Tinkler — defeated SuperSport United.
Moses Mabhida Stadium last staged the Carling Knockout decider in the 2019/20 season, when Mamelodi Sundowns overcame Maritzburg United.
Magesi FC are the current holders of the competition, having stunned Sundowns in last season’s final at Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein.
