Boxing superstar Gervonta Davis finds himself in hot water as an arrest warrant has been issued in connection with an alleged domestic violence incident. Reports from ESPN reveal that the charges against him include false imprisonment, battery, and attempted kidnapping stemming from an event in October.
The allegations were brought forward by Davis' ex-girlfriend, Courtney Rossel, who claims he assaulted her at a gentlemen's club in Miami Gardens. In her lawsuit, she describes a harrowing encounter where he allegedly grabbed her by the head and neck, dragging her into a parking garage before physically assaulting her.
Miami Gardens Police Department's executive officer, Emmanuel Jeanty, confirmed the warrant's existence during a press conference on Wednesday. He stated that the local police are collaborating with the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force to apprehend the WBA lightweight champion.
"Domestic violence is a serious crime, and the Miami Gardens Police Department remains steadfast in its commitment to hold offenders accountable and protect victims," Jeanty emphasized, affirming that their investigation has been ongoing since Rossel filed her lawsuit.
As the investigation progressed, it was determined that Davis allegedly used force to restrain Rossel in an effort to remove her from the location against her will.
Courtney Rossel's Lawsuit Against Gervonta Davis
Initially filed in October, Rossel's lawsuit accuses Davis of multiple offenses, including battery, aggravated battery, false imprisonment, kidnapping, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
In light of the arrest warrant, Rossel's attorney, Jeff Chukwuma, told ESPN, "What the police said aligns perfectly with our lawsuit. Their investigation has evidently been substantial enough to convince a judge to issue an arrest warrant. This determination coincides exactly with our civil complaint."
As of Wednesday afternoon, Gervonta Davis had yet to surrender to authorities, leaving fans and followers on edge about the unfolding situation.
