Hytale has garnered significant attention during its development journey. After being acquired by Riot Games and later returned to its original developers, the team began anew in November 2025. The game is set to enter early access on January 13, and while it's anticipated to be unpolished and fraught with bugs, Hypixel, the studio behind one of the most successful Minecraft servers, forecasts an astonishing "over 1 million" players at launch.
According to Simon Collins-Laflamme, Hypixel's CEO, in a recent post on X, "We expect over 1 million players on the early access release day for Hytale... Please download the launcher today and log in now to help us significantly reduce launch-day stress." This projection is grounded in their pre-order numbers from early December, indicating strong interest from the gaming community.
In preparation for the early access release, Hypixel has granted mod creators early access to the game, empowering them to develop a variety of exciting mods. These mods will introduce new game modes, cosmetics, items, and enhancements to gameplay, with fresh content being added regularly. Upon the game's launch, all available mods will be accessible via Curseforge, thanks to a partnership between the modding platform and Hypixel Studios.
