Grobler Dismisses Retirement as He Eyes PSL Goal Record

In-form striker, Bradley Grobler, has put the brakes on any retirement plans, as he chases the heels of the prolific Peter Shalulile.

Grobler, who turns 38 later this campaign, is only six goals away from breaking Peter Shalulile’s all-time leading PSL goal-scoring record.

Whilst Grobler has taken steps towards reaching that milestone, the Namibian isn’t done yet either.

This campaign has seen the veteran striker score six of Sekhukhune’s 13 league goals, which is the most at the club and in the Betway Premiership so far.

“It’s there and I’d be honoured, and love to get to those records, but it’s not something that’s weighing me down. I don’t feel that pressure, for me at the moment it’s one game at a time and my biggest thing is to help the club, to help the club going forward, you know, carry on the way we’re going,” said the 37-year-old striker.

Grobler is currently the top scorer in all competitions domestically, with eight goals.

“For me, it’s one game at a time and we’re going out in every game and keep up the same performances,” added Sekhukhune striker.

Eric Tinkler’s side find themselves on top of the league as the runaway leaders at this stage of the campaign, with Grobler’s goal-scoring prowess being pivotal to their change in fortunes this term.

“I think in South Africa, there’s become this big thing over the years of when you hit certain ages, you’re old, and that. People said five, six years ago, you know. I’m still young, still scoring goals, still helping the team, and the day when I feel I’ve let myself down when I go into the field, and I let the team down and the club down, you know, that’s the day that I’ll stop playing,” added the PSL veteran.

Those of Sekhukhune persuasion will certainly be hoping Grobler puts retirement plans on the back burner as they hope to improve on last season’s showing.
