The upcoming third season of HBO's The Last of Us TV adaptation will feature a new actor playing WLF member Manny.
As first reported, Danny Ramirez has left the show due to scheduling conflicts. Consequently, the role of Manny will be recast, though the new actor has yet to be determined.
Aside from his role in The Last of Us, Ramirez is also recognized as Joaquin Torres/Falcon in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He is expected to appear in Avengers: Doomsday, along with the biopic Samo Lives about Jean-Michel Basquiat.
When Ramirez was initially announced for the series, showrunners described Manny as "a loyal soldier whose sunny outlook belies the pain of old wounds and a fear that he will fail his friends when they need him most."
Ramirez’s Manny joined fellow newcomers such as Kaitlyn Dever as Abby and Tati Gabrielle as Nora for the second season, with Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey reprising their iconic roles as Joel and Ellie.
Ramirez is not the only key team member leaving the show for its third season. Last year, Neil Druckmann announced he would step back from the series after The Last of Us season two to concentrate on Naughty Dog’s gaming projects, including Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. He previously contributed as a co-showrunner, director, writer, and producer for the adaptation.
Despite his departure, Druckmann has mentioned that he will stay involved with The Last of Us' adaptation at a "very high level" to ensure it remains as true to its source as the first season was.
