Manchester United kicks off 2026 aiming for a European qualification, under the guidance of Ruben Amorim. The manager is focused on building on the team's revival since last season's disappointing 15th-place finish in the Premier League.
The 40-year-old joined United in November 2024 with accolades as one of Europe's top young coaches, having secured two Portuguese titles during his three years with Sporting.
The Red Devils took a leap of faith by hiring Amorim, hoping he would spearhead their return to title contention. Following a challenging start, the team seems to be poised for a promising season.
Former Arsenal Man’s Praise for Amorim
Amorim has made a notable impact on several high-profile players during his career, and one Premier League figure is vocal in expressing admiration for him. Hector Bellerin, who previously played under managers like Arsenal's Wenger and Arteta, sees Amorim as a unique coach who stands out.
Bellerin, who spent part of the 2022/23 season at Sporting, found his brief encounter with the Portuguese coach to be significantly influential.
“Football-wise, my time in Portugal was tough, but I learned key lessons,” Bellerin shared. “I found a great coach in Amorim, who for me is part of the new school of coaches.”
He added, “He was very good at the simple side of the game and I loved his ideas as a coach. It was really good to learn from him.”
Bellerin’s six-month tenure in Portugal followed a challenging period at Barcelona, where he made just a few appearances, yet he credits Amorim for revitalizing his career.
