It's been over two years since NBA star Ja Morant faced repercussions for his gun-related antics. In March 2023, he made headlines for displaying a firearm during an Instagram Live session at a Denver strip club, leading to an eight-game suspension. Just months later, he incurred an additional 25-game suspension for a similar incident.
Upon his return, Morant reflected on the experience, stating, "In the end, I feel like it made me better. I learned things about myself that were eye-opening and gave me a new perspective on life and how I carry myself."
However, according to DJ Akademiks, Morant's penchant for firearms wasn't a recent development. During a recent live stream, he stated that Celina Powell had revealed Morant's 'finsta'—a secret Instagram account—displaying several gun images before his suspensions.
“She showed me the finsta of all these famous guys,” Ak explained. “I saw Ja Morant’s finsta. He had a gun all over his page, and I remember saying, ‘What the f*ck?’”
Ja Morant Gun Incident
“He probably stopped because of the NBA,” Ak continued. “But this private network allows even celebrities to showcase a different side of themselves.”
While Morant insists the suspensions shaped him into a better player, some former employees at Shotgun Willie's, where the first incident occurred, aren't convinced. One dancer expressed skepticism, stating, “I don’t foresee an apology anytime soon. He’s a boy.”
Another criticized Morant's actions, asserting, “He’s clearly begging for attention and should be banned from all clubs, given the current circumstances of gun violence.”
