Kaizer Chiefs Part Ways with Coach Nasreddine Nabi Amid Personal Struggles

Kaizer Chiefs is set to part ways with head coach Nasreddine Nabi with immediate effect.

The club’s decision is not related to their recent on-field performance, including the 3-2 loss to Sekhukhune United at FNB Stadium on Tuesday.

As it has been widely reported, sources indicate Nabi’s departure is for personal reasons, specifically due to a serious car accident involving his wife in Tunisia.

Nabi had previously taken a leave of absence at the beginning of the season to be with his wife. During his absence, Chiefs secured nine points from three matches without conceding a single goal – beating Stellenbosch, Polokwane City and Richards Bay.

Upon his return, the team drew with Mamelodi Sundowns and then delivered one of their best performances of the season in a victory over Golden Arrows.

Nabi’s Legacy and Departure Details

A source close to the club confirmed the news, stating, “He is the one who opted to leave because of family issues.” The source also added that Nabi’s technical staff will remain with the club temporarily.

Nabi’s time at Chiefs was a notable one. Appointed at the start of last season, he led the club to its first piece of silverware in a decade by winning the Nedbank Cup final against arch-rivals Orlando Pirates.

This victory also secured the team’s qualification for the CAF Confederation Cup. Nabi’s overall record with Chiefs stands at 12 wins, 14 losses, and 9 draws in 35 matches.
