In the face of intensifying calls for a coaching change, Kaizer Chiefs management has expressed unwavering support for their co-coaches, Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef. Despite a challenging start to their tenure, the duo remains at the helm of the team.
Since taking over from Nasreddine Nabi last September, Kaze and Ben Youssef have navigated a rocky path, achieving just four wins out of 14 matches, alongside eight draws and two losses. This underwhelming performance has fueled skepticism among fans, especially following subpar results against mid and lower-tier PSL opponents.
Amidst this backdrop of discontent, club CEO Bobby Motaung has stepped forward to quash the notion of an immediate leadership shakeup.
“We don’t want to unsettle the squad by bringing in a new coach who might implement a completely different approach from what we currently have,”
Motaung highlighted the importance of continuity, noting,
“These two individuals have been part of the squad from the start, giving us a strong foundation to build upon. We are focused on progress, and it’s evident that the team is showing improvement.”
As Kaizer Chiefs gear up for the second half of the season, currently sitting fourth on the PSL table with 24 points from 13 matches, the management's support is poised to instill a sense of confidence in Kaze and Ben Youssef. Their goal is clear: to turn the tides and deliver more consistent performances moving forward.
