Kanye West has had his share of ups and downs, and recently, he hit another snag in the legal arena. The renowned artist was involved in a lawsuit filed by construction consultant Tony Saxon, who claimed that in 2021, he was hired to renovate West's Malibu home. This property has since changed hands, but the drama has only begun.
According to Saxon, he was promised $20,000 a week to oversee the renovations and provide round-the-clock security while residing at the site. However, he asserts that he only received a single payment of $20,000. Adding fuel to the fire, Saxon alleges that he was coerced into making dangerous modifications to the home, which included the installation of large generators while removing all electricity and windows — risks he was unwilling to take.
Kanye West's Upcoming Album Bully
Earlier this month, West retaliated with his own lawsuit against Saxon, accusing him of wrongfully placing a $1.8 million lien on the mansion and orchestrating a publicity stunt aimed at pressuring West and disrupting other transactions. The conflict bloomed into a courtroom battle where West's assertion is that Saxon shouldn’t see any payments due to not being a licensed contractor.
However, a recent ruling by a Los Angeles County judge determined this dispute will be decided by a jury. Saxon's attorney, Ronald Zambrano, expressed optimism about presenting the case in March, stating they are keen to showcase their evidence and testimony.
This legal turmoil emerges just weeks before the release of West's much-anticipated album, Bully, which is set to debut on January 30 and is already available for pre-save.
