Kaze Shifts Future Questions to Management After Knockout Exit

Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Cedric Kaze has directed questions about their future at Amakhosi to the management.

Following the team’s Carling Knockout elimination against Stellenbosch on Sunday, Kaze was adamant that the decision regarding their tenure lies solely with the management.

“I believe that that’s a question to be directed to the management, and from this time we’re the coaches of Kaizer Chiefs until the management of Kaizer Chiefs decides something and they will let everyone know,” Kaze said.

Kaze, alongside Ben Youssef Khalil, joined Amakhosi as an assistant coach under Nasreddine Nabi at the start of last season.

The duo played a crucial role in helping the team end a 10-year trophy drought by winning the Nedbank Cup. However, their league performance was less impressive, finishing ninth in the Betway Premiership.

This season, Kaze and Khalil took charge of the team for the first three games, winning all of them against Stellenbosch, Richards Bay, and Polokwane City.

This was due to Nabi being granted special leave by the management to attend to his wife, who was involved in a car accident in Tunisia.

Upon his return, Nabi led the Amakhosi to a draw against Mamelodi Sundowns and a win against Golden Arrows, but his stint was cut short after a loss to Sekhukhune United.

Since Nabi’s suspension, Kaze and Khalil have been at the helm, with their only win coming against Kabuscorp in the second leg of the CAF Confederation Cup first preliminary round on penalties at FNB Stadium.

With the Carling Knockout elimination, Amakhosi will now focus on their Confederation Cup campaign, facing Congolese side AS Simba in the first leg of the second preliminary round away from home on October 17 after the current FIFA international break.
