Khoza Prepares for Challenge Against Golden Arrows

Mamelodi Sundowns and South African international, Malibongwe Khoza, gave an insight into his progress ahead of the Brazilians’ clash with Lamontville Golden Arrows at King Zwelithini Stadium on Wednesday.

Sundowns currently sit in second place, on 18 points, behind Sekhukhune United, going into their ninth league game.

The 21-year-old has started in each of his five league appearances for the defending champions this season, as they look to maintain their unbeaten start to the campaign.

“It feels amazing, playing in every game, starting the game, getting the confidence. It shows that the coaches are trusting in me, and they are trying to push something,’’ said Khoza.

The young defender will be hoping to help his side get their sixth win of the league campaign as they face their former boss, Manqoba Mngqithi.

The recent head-to-head record doesn’t flatter the home side, as they have managed just one win in their last five encounters with Khoza’s employers.

Despite the Pretoria-based side’s dominance over Mnqithi’s men, Khoza remains wary of their threat, with confidence that he and his teammates can take maximum points at the King Zwelithini Stadium.

“Obviously, every team that plays against us makes sure that they play very hard, and they make the game very difficult for us. We’re going there with the right mindset, making sure that we win,” added the 21-year-old.

The defending champions will be without five of their players, as they’re off to the FIFA U-20 World Cup, with notable absentees including Siyabonga Mabena and Kutlwano Letlhaku.

Khoza implored Sundowns’ contingent to put on the shift and represent the country well, as Amajita are back at the showpiece event for the first time since 2019.
