Kinetic Games, the studio behind Phasmophobia, is venturing into indie game publishing while focusing on the impending 1.0 release of their hit horror game. According to a recent press release, the studio is on the lookout for innovative games from small teams and solo developers worldwide, particularly those with a clear vision and 12-18 months away from launch.
Daniel Knight, the studio founder and creator of Phasmophobia, established Kinetic Publishing to offer the kind of support he wished he had at the beginning of his journey. The new venture explicitly excludes blockchain, web3, or AI-generated games, and details the services Kinetic will provide.
Reflecting on the challenges of Phasmophobia's initial success, Knight noted that handling business aspects such as forming a company, managing server costs, and hiring overwhelmed him, distracting him from game development. Now, with a team of 30 supporting him, Knight is set to finalize Phasmophobia and push towards the long-awaited version 1.0, which has been in early access for over five years.
In a recent Steam update post dated December 25, Kinetic emphasized their dedication to delivering a fulfilling conclusion to the game's long development. The upcoming 1.0 launch is expected to introduce a substantial horror update, promising new thrills for even the most experienced players. While specific details remain under wraps to maintain the element of surprise, fans can anticipate exciting revelations in the lead-up to the release.
Phasmophobia 1.0 is slated for launch in 2026, targeting all players across all platforms simultaneously.
