Manchester United have settled their managerial situation for now, with Michael Carrick assuming the role of interim head coach through the end of the season.
Following the dismissal of Ruben Amorim during his inaugural season, Carrick, a former Red Devils midfielder, now leads the team.
The so-called ‘bomb squad’ is in play, consisting of several players currently on loan who may be monitoring changes within the club.
Could Manchester United ‘bomb squad’ loanees have a possible route back to Old Trafford?
In an effort to alleviate the pressure on Amorim regarding surplus players, four prominent names have exited the club on loan for the 2025-26 season. Marcus Rashford, Rasmus Hojlund, and Andre Onana are currently playing abroad, with Jadon Sancho remaining in the Premier League on loan at Aston Villa.
Reports indicate that goalkeeper Onana harbors hopes of a second chance under a new manager.

Having joined United from Inter Milan in the summer of 2023, Onana struggled to meet expectations, which led to his loan move to Turkish club Trabzonspor for the current season.
According to sources, Onana's optimism may be misplaced, as it appears United has decided to part ways with him permanently during the summer transfer window.
“Andre Onana is finished at Man Utd,” stated transfer expert Dean Jones. “His last game for the club probably has already been played, and there’s genuine hope that his loan will turn into a permanent deal.”

The Cameroonian goalkeeper has featured in 13 out of Trabzonspor’s 17 matches this season, recording three clean sheets and celebrating seven victories. He even achieved his first career assist during a match against Gazientep in September, illustrating his potential resurgence.
Onana managed to keep nine clean sheets in each of his two seasons at Manchester United, illustrating flashes of promise despite an overall lackluster performance.
