Master the Dynamax Mechanic in Pokémon Go Today!

Dynamax in Pokémon Go refers to a groundbreaking mechanic allowing your Pokémon to grow to enormous sizes during battles.

After its initial introduction in Pokémon Sword and Shield, players can finally experience Dynamaxing within Pokémon Go. This feature lets Pokémon transform, complete with little clouds hovering over their heads. The journey begins with various Dynamax Pokémon available to capture, starting with Dynamax Wooloo and Skwovet, which debuted on September 4, 2024, as part of the 'To the Max!' quest.

With the launch of Max Battles on September 10, 2024, even more Pokémon, including the Gen 1 starters, can evolve into their Dynamax forms, paving the way for future additions.

Players are encouraged to explore the full scope of Dynamax in Pokémon Go—understanding how to Dynamax, how to obtain Dynamax Pokémon, and the intricacies of Max Moves.

How to Dynamax in Pokémon Go

To activate Dynamax in Pokémon Go, participate in a Max Battle. As you engage in these battles, your Pokémon's Fast and Charged Attacks contribute energy to a Max Meter displayed on the screen. You can maximize energy by moving your Pokémon during these encounters.

When the Max Meter fills up, you can choose one Pokémon to Dynamax for three turns. Ensure your selected Pokémon is in fighting condition to grow to its colossal form, allowing you to switch to a more strategic choice against the Power Spot Boss.

Your Dynamax transformation remains for three turns during which the Pokémon leverages its Max Moves. While each Dynamax Pokémon possesses three unique moves, many may require unlocking. The Pokémon automatically uses its attack move after a countdown unless you opt for a different strategy.

After three turns, the Pokémon reverts to its original size. To Dynamax again, simply refill the Max Meter!

How to Obtain Dynamax Pokémon in Pokémon Go

The primary method to acquire Dynamax Pokémon is by defeating them in Max Battles. Once victorious, you'll have the chance to capture these giant Pokémon. Similar to raids, victory earns you Premier Balls—10 for defeating a one-star boss, with potential to increase this count by spending 200 Poké Coins.

However, act quickly: you must catch the Dynamax Pokémon before your Premier Balls run out, or you'll need to partake in another Max Battle!

Additionally, there's a possibility of encountering shiny Dynamax Pokémon after victories.

Other than Max Battles, there are two alternative methods to earn Dynamax Pokémon. The first is through the 'To the Max!' special research quest, where you encounter Dynamax Wooloo and Dynamax Skwovet at different stages.

Alternatively, gather 100 Max Particles for an extra chance at seeing a Dynamax Wooloo. Be mindful that this feature may be bugged; feedback suggests trying to collect 1,000 Max Particles for better chances of encounter.

Dynamax Pokémon may also spawn in the wild near Power Spots, though this functionality is yet to be fully tested.

Excitingly, players can evolve and trade Dynamax Pokémon, allowing for potential Lucky Pokémon through trading!

Understanding Max Moves in Pokémon Go

Max Moves are unique attacks accessible to Dynamax Pokémon during their three-turn transformation, consisting of:

  • Attack: A type-based attack that alters its name according to the Pokémon's class, e.g., Max Strike for a Normal-type like Wooloo.
  • Max Guard: A defensive move reducing damage from Boss attacks.
  • Max Spirit: A healing move benefiting both your Pokémon and allies.

While attack moves are available upon catching a Dynamax Pokémon, both Max Spirit and Max Guard require unlocking. Improving these moves demands Max Particles and Pokémon-specific Candy, rewarding XP as you progress.

Dynamax Pokémon Currently Available

Since Dynamax Pokémon are subject to evolution, players can find various Dynamax forms. Notable ones include:

  • Charmander
  • Squirtle
  • Bulbasaur
  • Charizard
  • Gengar
  • Inteleon
  • And many more!

Remember, some Dynamax Pokémon only evolve from prior forms or can be acquired through trading. Expect more Dynamax Pokémon to be introduced in upcoming events!

Get ready to harness the power of Dynamaxing in Pokémon Go and enjoy thrilling new gameplay experiences.
