At the beginning of your Hytale adventure, your inventory space should be sufficient for your needs. However, as you progress and gather more resources, you may find yourself running out of room quickly. Fortunately, you have options to expand beyond the default inventory size.
Unlocking the Backpack in Hytale
To increase your inventory capacity, you must unlock the backpack, which is designed specifically to provide additional slots for your items. This crucial upgrade becomes available when you elevate your workbench to tier two.
To achieve this, gather the following materials:
- 20x Iron Ingot, 20x Linen Scraps, 30x Copper Ingot
Once you’ve collected these materials, approach your workbench and select the option to upgrade. This will unlock new recipes, including that for the backpack, which you can craft with:
- 8x Iron Ingot, 16x Medium Leather
Medium Leather can be processed at the Tanning Rack, while Iron Ingots can be crafted from Iron Ore using a Furnace. After crafting the backpack, equip the piece of paper you receive in your inventory, right-click on it to learn the backpack recipe, and it will be permanently added, granting you nine extra slots.
Upgrading Your Backpack in Hytale
The standard backpack is useful, but upgrading it offers even more benefits. To enhance your backpack to tier two, you need a tier three workbench. If you have access to one, return to the “Tinkering” tab and use the following resources for the “Backpack Upgrade I”:
- 8x Cobalt Ingots, 24x Heavy Leather, 40x Cindercloth Scraps
This upgrade will double your additional inventory space to 18 extra slots. For an even greater upgrade, consider crafting “Backpack Upgrade II,” which requires restoring 100 Memories at the Forgotten Temple.
To restore those Memories, discover and interact with various mobs throughout Hytale, both friendly and hostile. Once you've met the requirement, you can craft the second upgrade using:
- 1x Voidheart, 8x Adamantite Ingot, 16x Storm Leather
While these advanced materials may take time to gather, focus on your initial backpack and the first upgrade to suit your early gameplay needs. The second upgrade will be within reach as you delve deeper into the game.
