Moodie Excited for London Showdown as Springboks Aim for Championship Triumph

Springbok utility back Canan Moodie looks forward to utilizing past experiences at Allianz Stadium as South Africa prepares to face Argentina in their final Rugby Championship match next Saturday in London.

The Springboks are entering this crucial match with high spirits following their impressive 67-30 victory over Argentina at Kings Park Stadium in Durban.

This victory propelled Rassie Erasmus’ team to the top of the Rugby Championship standings, amassing 15 points, one point ahead of the New Zealand All Blacks.

Allianz Stadium Memories: A Victory Over the All Blacks in 2023

Moodie has treasured memories of Allianz Stadium, where he played outside centre in the Springboks’ remarkable 35-7 win against the All Blacks during a Rugby World Cup warm-up match in 2023.

“It’s always special playing there,” Moodie remarked. “We have good memories from that day. But we know that Argentina will challenge us fiercely—they are a very passionate nation, and we must not underestimate them.”

Although Moodie almost scored a try during that significant match by intercepting the ball and dashing forward, the attempt was overturned due to an infringement in the buildup.

Strong Support for the Springboks in London

The Springboks can anticipate a lively atmosphere in London, where a substantial South African expatriate community consistently rallies behind the team.

“We need to focus on our performance and not get distracted. We are going to execute our game plan on Saturday,” Moodie assured.

The Springboks’ Journey Towards Retaining the Rugby Championship

The Boks’ bonus-point win against Argentina in Durban proved essential, particularly after the All Blacks secured a victory over Australia at Eden Park earlier that day. To claim their Rugby Championship title again, South Africa requires either another bonus-point win in London or hopes for an upset by the Wallabies against New Zealand in Perth.

With momentum in their favor, Erasmus’ squad is resolute in their pursuit to finish the tournament strongly and reclaim the trophy.
