Springbok utility back Canan Moodie remains humble after the team's comprehensive 67-30 victory against the Pumas
As the Springboks head to London for their decisive Rugby Championship match, Canan Moodie emphasizes hard work and focus. The Test, scheduled for next Saturday at 15:00 (SA time) at Allianz Stadium, Twickenham, will determine the Championship winner.
The Boks currently lead the standings with 15 points, keeping an eye on the outcomes of New Zealand (14 points) and Australia (11 points) in their final Bledisloe Cup clash earlier that day. The Pumas, placed fourth with nine points, have fallen out of contention for the title.
The squad, having departed from Johannesburg on their way to London, has a busy schedule ahead, returning to training on Tuesday. Following the game, Moodie stated, "The Rugby Championship has not been won yet. There’s still a job to do next week, and we’ll keep our heads down to achieve the desired result."
He anticipates a strong response from the Pumas, who have previously triumphed over formidable opponents this season. "They’ll come hard at us because they are a passionate rugby nation," Moodie noted.
Moodie highlighted the importance of focusing on their performance rather than external factors, expressing confidence in sticking to their game plan as they continue to achieve remarkable results on the field.
Following a superb attacking display against the Pumas, Moodie acknowledged the team’s successful strategy of adhering to their structures, ensuring a cohesive performance.
Moodie also praised Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu, who earned Player of the Match honors for a record-setting 37 points, including a hat-trick. He remarked on the positive atmosphere within the team, noting the confidence they instill in each other.
Moreover, he commended the skills of his teammates in the backline, recognizing their role in facilitating their collective success on the pitch.
