Senuran Muthusamy’s Historic Maiden Test Hundred Ignites Proteas’ Strong Total
Scoring a Test century is a significant milestone for any cricketer, but for Muthusamy, achieving this feat on Indian soil brought a deeper significance. Reflecting on his journey since South Africa's challenging tour in 2019, Muthusamy described his achievement as 'fantastic'.
“Coming here in 2019, where we lost the series badly, was tough,” he shared. “I’ve worked my way back into the national team setup, and to put in a performance like that in the first innings is an awesome experience. I’m grateful for the opportunity.”
Beginning the day on 25, Muthusamy, along with Kyle Verreynne, successfully challenged the Indian bowlers, showcasing resilience in what Muthusamy termed “attritional cricket.” Together, they contributed 88 runs for the seventh wicket.
Later, partnering with Marco Jansen, who played with vigor, they added another 97 runs, putting the Proteas in command.
